Students of accredited colleges and universities who want to nominate themselves as candidates for TABJ's Student Representative should email firstname.lastname@example.org by Sunday, Nov. 6, with your (1) name; (2) institution; (3) class; (4) major/concentration; and (5) a brief statement (500 words or less) about why you should represent your peers on the Executive Board.
The Student Representative must be a paid member of TABJ ($15). We expect the Student Representative to be the liaison between the professional members of the Executive Board and students in the area, from that person's school and others. The Student Representative should also participate in scheduled board meetings.
Here are the requirements according to the chapter's by-laws.
- Student Membership shall be available to full- and part-time students enrolled in mass communications courses at accredited colleges and universities in North Carolina.
- Student Members are not allowed to vote, hold office, or chair committees; provided, however, the Student Member appointed to the Board of Directors, known as the Student Representative, shall be entitled to vote on matters before the Board in the same manner as other directors.
- Eligibility for Student Membership shall expire on December 31 of the year in which a Student Member graduates.
